About this site
1 Pixel Out?
Why 1 Pixel Out? Well, it comes from the fact that I am a bit of a perfectionist. My main interest when it comes to web development is ColdFusion programming but I also dabble in graphics and front-end design. I am no expert in design theory (and especially colour theory—being colour-blind doesn’t help) but I know when something is “1 pixel out”. It has always saddened me when someone ruins a perfectly good design by forgetting to align boxes properly or—in the old table-and-slice days—not bothering with checking slice alignment and pixel-perfect edges.
Well, that was a rant rather than an explanation but that is where the name of this site comes from.
This blog used to run on my own blogging system (written in CF and running on a Windows server). I soon realised that I didn’t really need to write my own blogging system when there are so many quality open-source systems out there. So I picked WordPress and I’ve been very pleased with it so far. I also moved to a LAMP host (Site5) when I realised how much more you get for your money.
The theme I use is entirely my own. I wrote all the CSS and HTML and designed and created all the graphics. The site is of course fully standard-compliant.
