Update: Audio Player 1.2.2
Another day, another update. 1.2.2 fixes a bug with the “replace all mp3 links” option (again!). If you were using uppercase tags or attributes, the links were not being replaced. Download the update or use the Upgrade wizard if you already have version 1.2! Thanks go to Ken Sun for reporting it.

Hey Martin, hello world
Just found, installed and activated Audio-Player-Plugin according to given instructions. Nearly sure I’ve done correctly - but options dialouge won’t come up if I choose it in wordpress’ options… see this screenshot. Any ideas what’s wrong?
Kind regards, Neri

Hi,
Wanted to let you know that for my installation I had to change:
include( “audio-player/options-panel.php” );
to
include( “options-panel.php” );
on line 382 of audio-player.php
maybe it’s just me, but wanted you to know in case you don’t
Thanks for what looks like a very elegant solution,
Scott

Hello there again,
I have a question about your plugin: I’d like to use it to listen “mp3 audio streamings” (say, the ones you can find on yp.shoutcast.com). Well, as mentioned in another post, I can do this if I use Firefox, while this is not possible under Internet Explorer.
Try using this file, to see what I mean:
soundFile=http%3A%2F%2F64.236.34.67:80%2Fstream%2F1009
Could you help me understanding this?
Thanks in advance!

A wonderful work of art!

Great solution! I was looking for a single instance podcast player to embed in the posts.
A neat feature would be a choice to have the player spawn in a small window. That way someone can navigate away from the page but still listen to your podcast/music etc. Has anyone done that yet?
March 15th, 2006 at 9:43 pm
Michael: I have thought about this feature and will probably be looking at implementing in the future. I’m not working on this project at the moment so I can’t tell you when it’ll be ready.

hi there, excellent plugin.
Is there any way to tweak it to display the filename as opposed to the ID3 tag?
Thanks for any info.

I tried your link in Firefox and it worked fine. Can you explain what is happening? Can you see the player? Does the player open? One thing you could do is check that you have Flash installed (version 6 at least)
April 6th, 2006 at 7:07 pm
I Have flash 8. but I use a pc not an apple. my boyfriend use an apple and it works. I don’t understand…
Kisssss if you save me !

Isa: Well… If you promise a kiss!
You didn’t answer my questions about what exactly is happening. Does the player show at all? Does the player open when you click the playe button?

In Opera: if i start next song, previous isn’t selfclose, but in IE it is work!!! see in ie: http://www.angelin.ru/music
Then see in opera!
April 25th, 2006 at 9:12 am
Angelin: Oh no! It doesn’t work in Opera!!! We’re all doomed!
Sorry about that. I know there are some problems with Opera but to be totally honest with you, I don’t have time to worry about them. There are many many versions of Opera all with their own special little bugs. Tell me which version of Opera you are using and I might have a look when I have some time.

No, thanks, i dont worry to fix this problem. There are no problems for me. But it is a problem to others!

hello, my plug-in doesn’t work. I’m a newcommer from Spain. I push the mp3 archive in the window below. Then I write in the upper one [audio:name_of_the_song.mp3] The icon shows up. Opens, Appears “Buffering…” then it says “error opening file”. I need precise instructions, please. Mý site is an educative blog in Spanish and need help urgently. Thank you.
May 6th, 2006 at 6:24 pm
Gabriela: you are refrencing mp3 files that don’t exist on your server. Make sure your mp3 files don’t have spaces in their names and that you upload them to the audio folder under your wordpress folder so you can access them via http://www.iesleonardodavinci......3-file.mp3

Hi there, great flash piece is there any way to make it stand alone (i.e. in a standard HTML page) ? i.e. would call settings from a seperate XML file.
thanks
May 10th, 2006 at 9:28 am
David: there isn’t a stand alone version of this player but i’m thinking about building one. And it would definitely use an XML file for configuration. I really don’t have time to work on this project at the moment so don’t hold your breath.

Ok, Thank, you.

Is there a plan to add a counter to this plugin? Meaning, that in some way or another there will be a way to find out how many times a file has been played
Thanks. A great plugin.

Hello,
I think your mod’s are grate, but just now I moved to Bloghoster and would like to ask you if you can write comment how to add this as plug-in to Bloghoster…
July 2nd, 2006 at 1:23 am
Martin,
Your mp3 plugin is fantastic! Good work. Now, i was wondering: can you think of a way to hide the path of the mp3 sound file in the source code? I don’t want users to be able to look at the source and then download the mp3 after looking at the soundFile value…
I’m kind of a web dev newbie…so does anyone know…is there maybe a way to allow a user to read but not download of a file?

Great plugin, I’m using it on my site. Just curious - did Bloglines borrow/buy your code? I saw my first enclosure today that included a built in player, looking suspiciously like yours.

Hello.
I’ve just installed this audio plug-in. What a fantastic little thingy. Know I can send news-letters to family and friends. But there’s one thing I would like to know. My first soundfile works Ok except from one thing. I sound like Donald Duck on crack - and that’s not how I usually sound like. I’ve tested the playback using both Firefox and IE6, but with the same result. Now this soundfile is a wee bit short, only 22 seconds long. Is that the problem?

Right - found that one myself. It’s the Chipmunk effect. The problem resides in the flash player. The Flash player has a problem with playback of sound files with any other encoding than rates of a multiple of 11.025 kHz. So I guess I try using 22.050 kHz or 44.100 kHz instead.
August 9th, 2006 at 10:39 am
You got it Michael. I mention the chipmunk effect in the docs: http://www.1pixelout.net/code/...../#chipmunk

Hi! I am setting up my first blog (Wordpress 2), and I wanted to implement you audio player plugin. However, it doesn’t work. It just fails to show up in the postings. I am pretty sure that I have installed it correctly, and that the MP3 file is in the right location. Any chance you take a peek at http://wortvogel.de/?p=40 , and give me you two cents? Best, Torsten

Hi there,
Very nice pluggin, but I have problem to listen the MP3 in internet explorer.
With Firefox works fine.
You can test in this post: http://motarile.mota.es/2006/0.....s-cambios/
Any suggestion what is happening??
Thanks in advance.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:10 pm
Mota: I checked your site and some very strange things happen when the player starts buffering the mp3 file in Firefox. In IE, the file just doesn’t start. My guess is that the web server serving the file is doing some strange redirecting or something. Sorry I can’t help you more but it doesn’t look like it’s the plugin’s fault.

Thanks anyway Martin,
I’ll try to find what’s happening.

Martin, I’ve stored the file in another server and now works fine.

I just wanted to say thanks for a great player
So here goes: Thanks!

I am using your player via the Podpress plugin on Wordpress. It is great. One request I have from some listeners is to show the podcast total time length, so they know how much of the podcast is left to play.
Thanks,
Kevin
